Abdul Hameed, born on April 29, 1928, was a prominent Urdu fiction writer from Pakistan, renowned for his extensive contribution to Urdu literature with over 200 books. He completed his secondary education in Amritsar, India, before moving to Pakistan following the partition of the subcontinent. In Pakistan, he began his career as a script editor at Radio Pakistan and later worked with Voice of America. Among his acclaimed works are “Urdu Sheer Ki Dastan,” “Urdu Nasar Ki Dastan,” “Mirza Ghalib,” “Dastango Ashfaq Ahmed,” and “Mirza Ghalib Lahore Mein.” He also wrote the script for the popular TV drama “Ainak Wala Jin.” Abdul Hameed passed away on April 29, 2011, at the age of 83. His Urdu books and novels continue to be highly popular among readers.
